Everyone with HCPP hopes that you and your family are all well. We have been carefully monitoring the COVID-19 situation in the best interest of our volunteers as well as the children in our program. We have come to the decision that we will be cancelling the end of year recitals given the circumstances. We know that this may be disappointing considering all the hard work that everyone has put in. We are truly disappointed by the situation as well but know that it's in everyone's interest to limit social gatherings and practice social distancing.
At the time being, school has been cancelled and we have also decided to cancel lessons until further notice from the federal government to be in line with public health recommendations. If by chance schools do open to finish up the 2019-2020 school year, the return of our volunteers teachers will be depend on each individual teacher's situation as some may have already returned home following the end of their winter semester at our university. We want to thank you all for your patience and understanding. We hope you are all taking care of yourselves. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Over the years, we have been posting new updates under this section on our website.
This year, we have decided to try something new and update our volunteers through a monthly newsletter! In this newsletter, we share what has happened in the past month, any upcoming events, and much more! While this section of our website won't be updated as often, we will still continue to post about our annual recitals to showcase our incredible students. If you are interested in more frequent updates, please check out our "Monthly Newsletter" section or click here to join our mailing list and stay in the loop! The 12th annual recital was a success! This year our recital was held on Wednesday, March 29th, and Friday, March 31st in the spectacular Huguette Labelle Hall at the uOttawa Tabaret building. Participants from five schools performed: Manor Park, Queen Elizabeth, Vincent Massey, Connaught and York Street. Visit our Facebook Page at Heart of the City Piano - Ottawa to see pictures from the performance to share with family and friends! This year’s recital was certainly a memorable one! On April 8th, 2016, the year end recital was held in Tabaret Hall on the University of Ottawa campus located in downtown Ottawa. We had five schools in attendance this year: Manor Park, Queen Elizabeth, Vincent Massey, Connaught and York Street. For those who would like to see what we got up to during the recital, we have some performances recorded and posted on YouTube and photos taken for the students to share with family and friends for lasting memories. At the end of the recital, we had a surprise eight-hand piano performance on not one… but two pianos! Smetana’s Rondo for 2 Pianos and 8 hands was performed by four of our executive members, Yen-Yen Gee, Curtis Quan, Clara Lockhart and Valeria Dimitrova. On behalf of HCPP Ottawa, we would like to thank all of our volunteers and teachers who have put their time and care into sharing music and inspiring with children in our city. We would also like to thank the Kiwanis Circle K club for funding our program and to the University of Ottawa Music Department for allowing us to host our annual piano recital in the beautiful Tabaret Hall. We look forward to next year as HCPP Ottawa continues to teach music for over 10 years!
We are very excited to announce that Queen Elizabeth Public School has joined our program! Thank you very much to Mr. Christopher Barham for being so proactive and supportive of this program at Queen Elizabeth and to Valeria Dimitrova for being our first volunteer! We greatly look forward to working together and expanding our program at Queen Elizabeth in the coming years.

This year’s recital was the best one yet! On March 31st, 2014, the year end recital was held at the Rideau Park United Church venue where we had four schools in attendance. We also have this years recital recorded on DVD which will be sent out to the students at the end of this school year to share with family and friends for lasting memories.
At the end of the recital, we had a surprise church organ performance by Ian Bevell, Music Director at Rideau Park United Church, who gave the students a brief lesson on how the organ works. Afterwards, roses were handed out to each of the volunteer coordinators and teacher coordinators involved in the program to show our appreciation for all their care and effort invested in HCPP Ottawa. Pictures from the recital at Rideau Park United Church can be found on here and on our Facebook page. On April 5, 2013 HCPP Ottawa hosted our annual ‘Spring Into Music’ piano recital. Students from Connaught Public School, Queen Mary Public School and Manor Park Public School were able to showcase their talents and play pieces learned over the course of the school year. The recital was held at Rideau Park United Church and around 30 students, ranging from beginners to more advanced players, presented their musical abilities. Congratulations to all the students on all their hard work and a big thank you to the dedicated volunteers at each school as well as to the administrative team for making the recital a huge success!
